I am collaborating with the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Musical Meditation Club to enhance their digital outreach and publicity strategies.
Project Background š§š¾ š¶ šø š“
For my final project for my Journalism 240: Multimedia Journalism class, I am tasked with creating a series of multimedia assets for a club, organization, or nonprofit. Since I am currently focused on music, I chose to partner with the CSULB Musical Meditation Club. Over the past few weeks, I have been working with the club's president and director of communications to create a project plan. I will be posting project updates on my blog during the month of April, so stay tuned! The first one is documented in the section below.
Understanding the Club's Rhythm š„āØš šŖ“
Task #1 š: Introduce the club, outline project goals and create one multimedia asset.
College life is stressful, that's why the CSULB Musical Meditation Club was created. Founded with the goal of reducing stress and anxiety in college students, the club aims to bring a sense of stillness to an otherwise overwhelming academic experience. Each month it hosts a series of relaxation events to create a safe space for students to convene and learn self-soothing exercises.
What sets this club apart from others is that it uses music as a way to enhance mindfulness. Specifically, it hosts meetings where members participate in guided yoga and meditation accompanied by calming rhythms. Overall, it is a hub for community and connection at the coastal university.
During this project, my goals are to build the club's online presence and increase its connectivity with students. I will accomplish this vision by making promotional videos, creating a professional website, curating a student-run blog, highlighting members on the website, and starting a club podcast.
